The Boundary Métis Community Association (BMCA) is one of the 39 chartered communities of the Métis Nation of British Columbia (MNBC) and plays a vital role in the Boundary Indigenous community. Located in Region 3 Thompson Okanagan, the BMCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and celebration of the rich Métis culture and heritage in the Boundary region. We are committed to protecting, promoting, and enhancing the status of our Métis citizens, including those from the Grand Forks Métis community, and providing support where we can. Through a variety of activities, programs, and Metis events, BMCA aims to foster a thriving, vibrant community where Métis individuals and families can connect, share, learn, and grow. The communities we serve include Beaverdell, Westbridge, Bridesville, Rock Creek, Midway, Greenwood, Grand Forks, Christina Lake, and everyone in-between. We support citizens registered with MNBC as well as those who self-identify, and we are actively working to expand our influence and membership to support other Indigenous Peoples across the Boundary.

A photo from our Métis family cooking class series! Each session is kid focused and allows them to participate in making a group meal. It's been a great opportunity for families to connect and spend a Sunday.
Maarsi to Laranna the photographer and to Sam for crafting a program for us that helps kids learn to cook.

Our vision is to foster a healthy Boundary Indigenous community within the Boundary region. Our primary focus is on connection—connecting person to person, linking individuals to Métis culture, and building a bond between each person and Creator. Through our workshops and Metis events, we take a holistic approach that encompasses all aspects of the medicine wheel, bringing essential culture and knowledge to our Grandforks Metis community members in a way that addresses the unique needs of the Boundary.

Our BMCA members include MNBC citizens, individuals who self-identify as Métis, and those who support the Métis culture as allies. The Boundary area, which encompasses several small communities, takes pride in fostering connections among these diverse groups. We organize Metis events throughout the Boundary to ensure accessibility for everyone. We warmly invite all people of all nations to our community events, providing an opportunity to learn and connect with our Grandforks Metis community.

We are always working to learn more about the needs of our community, including the Boundary Indigenous and Grandforks Metis, through outreach and discussions. Currently, our main projects include the Wilgress Lake Family Fishing Derby, building a community food forest, improving the health and wellness of our members, and continuing to foster connections by hosting cultural workshops and Metis events that celebrate Métis culture. A goal of ours is to create a community wellness building with subsidized housing, so stay tuned as we explore this exciting possibility.
We are always looking to grow our membership in the Boundary Indigenous community! Check out the ABOUT US section for more information about Grandforks Metis and our upcoming Métis culture events.
Many hands make light work, especially within the Boundary Indigenous community. We could always use some assistance setting up or taking down at our Metis Events, which celebrate Métis culture. For more information, please see the About Us section.
