About the Boundary Métis Community Association

Our Impact

The Boundary Métis Community Association (BMCA) is one of the 39 chartered communities of Métis Nation of British Columbia (MNBC). We are located in Region 3 Thompson Okanagan. The BMCA is a non-profit organization that is committed to the preservation, promotion, and celebration of the rich Métis culture, history, and heritage in the Boundary region. We work to protect, promote and enhance the status of our Métis citizens in the Boundary area and to support them where we can. Through a range of activities, programs, and events, BMCA seeks to create a thriving, vibrant community where Métis individuals and families can connect, share, learn, and grow. The communities that BMCA serves and supports are Beaverdell, Westbridge, Bridesville, Rock Creek, Midway, Greenwood, Grand Forks, and Christina Lake and everyone in-between. We support citizens registered with MNBC and those who self-identify. We are also working on expanding our influence and membership to support other Indigenous Peoples across the Boundary.

Our Vision

Our Community

Our Community

Our vision is to create a healthy Métis community within the Boundary. Our main focus is connection. Connection between person to person, connection between people and culture, and connection between each person and Creator. Our workshops and events take a holistic approach focusing on all aspects of the medicine wheel to bring culture and knowledge to our community members in a way that suits the unique needs of the Boundary region.

Our Community

Our Community

Our Community

Our BMCA members consist of those who are MNBC citizens, those who self-identify as Métis and those who are Metis allies. The Boundary area consists of several small communities spread out and we take pride in our ability to foster connection between these different communities. We host events across the Boundary to be more accessible to all. We welcome All People of All Nations to our community events to learn and connect with our Métis community.

Our Future

Our Community

Our Future

We are always working to learn more about the needs of our community through outreach and discussions. Currently our main projects are the Wilgress Lake Family Fishing Derby, building a community food forest, improving health and wellness of our members and continuing to create connections by hosting cultural and other workshops. A goal of ours is to create a community wellness building with subsidized housing, so stay tuned as we work on this possibility.
